How should you choose a home health care agency?

One way to make your decision would be to look at the way the employees are found and paid. You generally have three options.

Option one would be a private caregiver. This means you’d hire a caregiver of your choice directly. You’d be on the hook for any liability issues, as well as for workman’s comp and the employee’s taxes.

Option two would be to work with an agency who sends you contract employees. Contract employees have no oversight: some don’t provide diligent care, and some even abuse their charges.

The third option is A Place at Home’s W-2 model. We hire all our employees directly, which means we assume the responsibility for making sure they’re taking care of our clients. We also handle background checks, drug tests, and taxes while assuming all the liabilities.

Does home health care include senior assisted living?

No, these are two different things. Some assisted living facilities will have home health providers placed in the community as a value-added service. If this is an important feature for you speak to one of our Senior Living Advisors. We can help you locate the best option.

How much does senior assisted living cost?

Costs vary by state and by facility, but $43,500 a year represents the national average. For many seniors and their adult children, in-home health care represents the only sane, financially feasible choice.

How do I know I can trust my caregiver?

Each caregiver has been thoroughly vetted, background checked and trained long before they can set foot in your senior’s home. Our providers all embrace our CARE philosophy and so provide compassionate, accountable, respectful, and ethical care.

  • The only agency I’ll ever trust.
We’ve tried several, and lost sleep till we found A Place at Home.

The courtesy, level of professionalism, and real concern my caregiver shows to my elderly parents is second-to-none. I’ll never trust another agency. It's been a better financial option for us than senior assisted living, too.

  • All the services we need, under one roof.
A Place at Home is my partner when it comes to caring for Mom.

One thing I love is the way A Place at Home helped me put together a personalized care program for Dad. I can take on a few tasks, but I’m not on the hook for everything. And as Dad starts to need more help in the future I know this agency will keep up with us and continue to work with us.

  • "I would recommend Cindy at A Place At Home for anyone that is apprehensive about putting a loved one in a senior living facility. She recently helped me find an assisted living home for my 88-year-old Aunt. She listened very carefully to what I was looking for, and found the perfect place that was within the budget. She met me at the home with my Aunt, and walked us around and explained everything. We were able to visit the apartment, and meet the people that work there. She helped me understand the whole process with working with Medicaid. I could not have done this without her help. My Aunt is very happy in her new home!"
